The new XL4 range of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators from C.Scope represent a significant advance in cable detecting and tracing performance.
Innovative new features have been introduced and popular existing modes of detection have been enhanced to allow the XL4 range of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators to successfully detect even the hardest to find pipes and cables. Particular attention has been paid to minimise the potential for human error to impact on operating performance and to effect better working practices.
The XL4 range of Cable Avoidance Tools now have improved performance across all modes of detection; Power, Radio, Generator and AllScan, whilst remaining easy to operate ensuring there is only a minimal need for training or retraining.
Intelligent features such as PeakHold allows operators to quickly and confidently pinpoint the exact position of buried services. A clever AlarmZone™ feature alerts operators to the presence of particularly shallow pipes or cables with the exact trigger depth adjustable by the user to best suit local requirements. And a dynamic SwingSensor gently alerts the operator if the Locator is being swung excessively, potentially compromising the accuracy of any locates.
To compliment and support in-built data logging on C.Scope Cable Avoidance Tools, the SGV4 Signal Generator also has full data logging capability. A years worth of data can be stored, in normal usage, on both the Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generator. This can be conveniently transferred at any time to supervisors for analysis via a USB cable to a PC. The free-to-download C.Scope PC Toolkit and C.Scope Relay smartphone App analyses the stored data allowing training requirements to be quickly identified.
The XL4 Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators do not require periodic recalibration. A fully Automatic Daily Self Test (ADST) tests and confirms that the Cable Avoidance Tools and the Signal Generator are functioning at their optimum level each day.
The result of each ADST is recorded and stored within the data files and can be used to produce a Product Validation Certificate using the PC Toolkit. C.Scope authorised Service Centres are also able to provide third-party Test and Calibration Certification should you require it to comply with client or internal regulations.
The new XL4 range of C.Scope Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators retain the reliability and durability expected of all C.Scope products and now come with a Three Year Warranty.
The C.Scope MXL4 Cable Avoidance Tool has four detecting modes, each with their own unique advantages.

POWER Mode: The quickest way to detect most buried electricity cables by detecting the signal created by the electrical current itself.

RADIO Mode: Detects re-radiated "radio" type signals that are often present on metal pipes and cables allowing their position to be determined using the MXL alone.

TRANSMITTER Mode: Used to detect the signal applied to a metal pipe or cable by a C.Scope SGA or SGV Signal Generator. In addition the Generator mode can be used to detect the signal being transmitted by a C.Scope Sonde for non-metallic pipe tracing. In both instances the depth of the pipe or cable or Sonde can be displayed at the press of a button.

ALLSCAN Mode: Detects ALL frequencies of signal from the lowest of the Power signals right up to and including 33kHz. This great all-in-one mode can detect unusual frequency signals often overlooked in the conventional Power, Radio and Tranmitter modes and can often speed up the locating process with just one sweep of the site.

DEPTH INDICATION: Note the MXL4 does not give depth readings without the use of a MXT4 Signal Transmitter or 33kHz, 8KHz or 512Hz Sonde transmitter. Also the true depth can be +/- 10% of the indicated depth displayed on this Cable Avoidance Tool for example an indicated depth of 1m means that the located service could lay 0.9m to 1.1m below the base of the instrument.

Depth of detection - The MXL4 will typically detect conductors to the following depths:

P - 3 metres
R - 2 metres
G - 3 metres

Please note that site conditions such as soil, moisture and temperature can affect these depth performance levels.

Worth it's weight in gold!

This locator just saved our butt today! We found a cable right in the middle of our dig site after the contractor confirmed the area was clear.
