The MXL4 Precision Locator represents a significant advance in cable detecting and tracing capabilities. The MXL4-D has full data logging capability and a range of innovative new features have been introduced, enabling the MXL4-D Locator and MXT4-D Transmitter to provide high-end precision performance and a far more flexible approach to pipe and cable location.

Optimised Locator Sensitivity and Noise Rejection means that the MXL4-D can deal with the highest levels of background interference found, allowing even the weakest of signals to be detected successfully.

When combined with the MXT4-D Transmitter, you get a greater range of transmitting frequencies allowing improved long distance tracing and utility identification, even on the most congested of sites. A range of frequencies from 512/640Hz up to 131kHz and including the simultaneous dual-frequency 33kHz and 131kHz signal output is ideal for maximising the number of buried services that can be energised and then detected. The MXL4-D can apply these frequency signals without direct connection to buried services, using either a Signal Clamp or the simple induction method from ground level, providing a significant improvement in the detection of the smaller diameter or poorly earthed cables.

The C.Scope MXL4 Cable Avoidance Tool has four detecting modes, each with their own unique advantages.

POWER Mode: The quickest way to detect most buried electricity cables by detecting the signal created by the electrical current itself.

RADIO Mode: Detects re-radiated "radio" type signals that are often present on metal pipes and cables allowing their position to be determined using the MXL alone.

TRANSMITTER Mode: Used to detect the signal applied to a metal pipe or cable by a C.Scope SGA or SGV Signal Generator. In addition the Generator mode can be used to detect the signal being transmitted by a C.Scope Sonde for non-metallic pipe tracing. In both instances the depth of the pipe or cable or Sonde can be displayed at the press of a button.

ALLSCAN Mode: Detects ALL frequencies of signal from the lowest of the Power signals right up to and including 33kHz. This great all-in-one mode can detect unusual frequency signals often overlooked in the conventional Power, Radio and Tranmitter modes and can often speed up the locating process with just one sweep of the site.

DEPTH INDICATION: Note the DXL4-D does not give depth readings without the use of a SGA4 Signal Generator or 33kHz Sonde transmitter. The cable depth is typically within ±10% of the indicated depth displayed on this DXL4-D.  The DXL4-D will typically detect conductors to the following depths:

Power Mode - 3 metres
Radio Mode - 2 metres 
Generator Mode - 3 metres 

Please note that site conditions such as soil, moisture and temperature can affect these depth performance levels.
